Premium WooCommerce development for a growing pet product brand
Pawzler is a pet product brand focused on interactive dog puzzles designed to keep dogs mentally stimulated, engaged, and entertained. As the brand continued to grow across multiple markets, the website needed more than basic WooCommerce maintenance. It required a reliable technical partner who could improve existing functionality, stabilize unfinished features, and continue building custom solutions around the brand’s evolving business needs.
Building a stronger WooCommerce foundation for Pawzler
Pawzler came to us with an existing WooCommerce store that was already serving customers, but still needed technical improvements, feature completion, and ongoing development support. The project was not a full rebuild from zero. Instead, our role was to step in as a long-term development partner and help improve the existing platform while keeping the store stable and ready for continued growth.
The brand operates in the pet product space, where the customer experience needs to be simple, trustworthy, and engaging. Visitors need to understand the product quickly, choose the right Pawzler setup for their dog, and move through the buying journey without confusion. Behind the scenes, the store also needs to support marketing workflows, customer segmentation, subscription-related functionality, and ongoing campaign development.
One of the first priorities was addressing unfinished and unreliable functionality. The subscription setup was not fully completed, and the subscriber synchronization with the correct Mailchimp group was not working as expected. These issues affected both the customer experience and the brand’s ability to communicate with customers properly after purchase or signup.
Our work focused on improving the technical foundation of the WooCommerce setup, developing custom functionality where standard plugins were not enough, and supporting Pawzler with ongoing improvements across both the customer-facing store and the backend workflows.
The result is a more reliable WooCommerce platform with better custom functionality, improved marketing support, and a stronger foundation for future growth.
The challenge
Pawzler’s website was already live, but several important areas needed technical attention. The store had existing functionality that was either incomplete, unreliable, or not fully aligned with how the business needed to operate.
The subscription functionality was one of the key challenges. Subscription-based features can be complex because they affect the customer account experience, payment flows, recurring communication, backend management, and email marketing logic. When these workflows are unfinished or unstable, they create friction for both the business and the customer.
Another important challenge was the synchronization of subscribers with Mailchimp groups. For an eCommerce brand, email marketing is not just a newsletter feature. It is part of the customer journey. Customers need to receive relevant communication based on their behavior, purchases, interests, and relationship with the brand. If subscriber syncing does not work correctly, marketing automation becomes less accurate and less effective.
The store also needed custom development around product pages, redirect logic, and customer-based weekly challenges. These were not simple visual changes. They required understanding WooCommerce, customer data, product relationships, and how the business wanted to create a more engaging experience after purchase.
Project goals
The main goal was to support Pawzler with reliable ongoing WooCommerce development and to improve the store in a way that supports long-term growth.
A key focus was stabilizing unfinished features and improving the technical setup behind subscriptions and email marketing. Pawzler needed a system that could support better customer communication, cleaner subscriber management, and a more reliable connection between WooCommerce and Mailchimp.
Another important goal was improving the shopping experience with custom product pages. For a product like Pawzler, product presentation matters. Customers need to understand how the product works, why it is useful, and which options are right for them. A generic WooCommerce product page is often not enough for a brand that needs education, trust, and conversion-focused storytelling.
The project also included a MaxMind-based redirect popup to help guide visitors to the correct market experience. This helps reduce confusion for international visitors and creates a smoother journey based on location.
A more advanced goal was the development of weekly challenges with filtering based on customer products. This type of functionality helps extend the value of the product after purchase and creates a more personalized experience for customers.
The solution
We approached the Pawzler project as an ongoing technical partnership rather than a one-time development task. The store needed continuous improvement, careful debugging, and custom WooCommerce development that could work reliably with the existing setup.
For the subscription-related work, we reviewed the existing configuration, identified where the process was incomplete, and improved the technical flow so the feature could better support the business model. Subscription functionality needs to be dependable because it affects customer expectations, communication, and recurring engagement.
For Mailchimp synchronization, we focused on improving the connection between WooCommerce customers and the correct email marketing groups. This helps Pawzler create more accurate communication flows and gives the business a better foundation for customer segmentation.
We also developed a MaxMind-powered redirect popup to help visitors navigate between market-specific store experiences. Instead of automatically forcing users away from the site, the popup can guide them in a more user-friendly way, giving them the option to move to the store that better matches their location.
Custom product page development was another important part of the work. The goal was to move beyond standard WooCommerce layouts and create product pages that better support Pawzler’s brand, product education, and buying experience.
For the weekly challenges, we developed custom functionality that allows challenges to be filtered based on products owned by customers. This creates a more relevant post-purchase experience and helps Pawzler build a stronger relationship with its customers beyond the initial sale.
